At last I have some t shirts available on my Etsy shop. Only 3 designs at the moment but more will be coming soon.

So I promised myself recently that I’d try to write some regular articles on things that I like. I'm going to try and feature a mixture of toys, art and fashion as I collect toys, I doodle and I collect t-shirts (it's more of an addiction than a hobby). The first feature mixes all three of these into one yeti-tastic package, say hello to GAMA-GO...

GAMA-GO is a fashion/toy/gift/lifestyle company that was started in 2000 by Greg Long and Chris Edmundson. The pair began silkscreening t-shirts with artwork from their friends in Long’s San Francisco garage. They wanted to help promote the San Francisco art scene and distract from their day jobs.

Shortly after starting, one of Long’s friends, artist Tim Biskup joined them, and printed shirts with Biskup’s Gama-Goon character. The three of them together took the basement hobby and turned it into a company.

With characters such as The Yeti, DeathBot, Tigerlily, Sqiddles, Dirty Bird, and Bling-Bling, the designs fall into place with the low brow and pop art movements. GAMA-GO specializes in unique apparel, gifts and art from artists including Tim Biskup, Joe Ledbetter, Jackson Pritt, Grace Fontaine and Wednesday Kirwan.

In 2006, GAMA-GO shifted their focus from apparel to gifts for the home and kitchen. 2009 saw the release of The Flipper, a guitar shaped spatula. The success of The Flipper helped to cement GAMA-GO's name among the top gift-ware design companies.

GAMA-GO products are available in 100+ stores across America. Products are also available online through the company's website and in their flagship store in San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood. Whenever I'm in New York I always go to Yellow Rat Bastard to buy at least one t-shirt. After each design has been used it gets retired which means that if you don't buy it when you see it, you've got to take the shirt off somebody’s back to get a hold of it.

In addition to their range of limited edition t-shirts they also collaborate with various companies to create toys. They're harder to track down but if you're a GAMA-GO fan or not who wouldn't want their own DeathBot or Yeti to add to their collection.

For more information about GAMA-GO go check out their website here.

You can also purchase a load of GAMA-GO products in the UK at my favourite toy store, the Richard Goodall Gallery.

i've just spent a rainy day doing some christmas shopping in manchester. this means that i've been able to go to my favourite toy store, the richard goodall gallery. if you're in manchester and you want to spend some money on some vinyl (the kind you don't play) or some giclee or screen prints then this 2 floor gallery store in the northern quarter is definitely worth a visit.

if you don't know where it is just get onto oldham street heading out of the city center. keep walking until you go past forbidden planet and then do a left. it's opposite the back of the multistory car park. the address is 59 Thomas St Manchester England M4 1NA UK

if you've ever been to kidrobot in San Francisco then you'll understand how much better it is to look through the display cabinets to see what each figure looks like. in the richard goodall gallery they normally have the complete series blind box figures in their display cabinets so you can see these figures up close. one other thing i love about this place is that they actually sell some of them as open box figures which is a godsend if you're trying to complete a particular series. not only do they sell most if not all of the current kidrobot range (including all the 8" dunnys), they also sell a lot of the more interesting rarer toys downstairs, things like the wwr figures by ashley wood, a lot of the michael lau figures and occasionally some of the gama go figures and some original sketches by tim biskup (the death bot will be mine).

in addition to their large range of vinyl (believe me they have a lot of stuff here that wasn't actually in the new york kidrobot store last time i went) they also sell limited edition prints from some amazing artists. my favourite ones have to be the aaron horkey music posters, these giclee prints are simply amazing
but it doesn't stop there, they also sell a good range of books and magazines covering the whole low brow art scene including back issues of juxtapoz and various toy related books and if you're tired they also sell cushions, my favourite ones have to be the tara mcpherson ones.

all in all this place is definitely worth a visit but if you're nowhere near manchester you can visit their website here.

Blog Action Day is an annual event held every October 15 that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day with the aim of sparking a global discussion and driving collective action. This year's topic is water.

Why Water?

Right now, almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water. That’s one in eight of us.

Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation.

But, water moves beyond just a human rights issue. It’s an environmental issue, an animal welfare issue, a sustainability issue. Water is a global issue, deserving a global conversation.

You can find out more information here.
